1962 Colt 1911 Gold Cup National Match Factory Engraved *Colt Show Gun!
If you are an avid collector of investment-grade Colt handguns, then you will want to take a very close look at the amazing pistol we are now offering you!
‘Dirty Harry’ is very proud to present to you this spectacular 1962 Colt 1911 Gold Cup National Match .45ACP (Serial # 10323NM), factory engraved & signed by Colt Master Engraver Alvin A. White. We tend to find the term ‘Holy Grail’ to be kind of sappy, but if any Colt pistol that we have had over the years fits this term, it is certainly this one! Originally sold to reknown Colt aficionado Herb Glass on November 2, 1962, this pistol was shipped from the Colt factory 'in the white', whereas the metal is polished to a very high, bright, and reflective shine, but has not been plated or blued, meaning the bare, natural metal itself is visible. Mr. Glass then gave the pistol to the legendary Alvin White for a beautiful 'C' Level engraving, and then Colt did the final deep-blue high-polish finish. Subsequently, Colt ended up keeping the pistol for the next three years (1962-1964) as a ‘Show Gun’ for their Traveling Display. It was then returned to the factory and eventually sold on October 28, 1968, to WM Quinn & Son of Freehold, New Jersey.
This pistol is an absolute show-stopper folks. Alvin White adorned the frame w/ Class 'C' coverage, floral scroll engravings w/ punch-dot backgrounds, all expertly executed, and he signed the grip frame w/ his 'AAW' trademark under the right grip panel. Chambered in .45ACP w/ a 5” barrel, this exceptional pistol features a fixed blade front sight and adjustable rear sights, and of course a ‘National Match’ marked barrel. It was fitted w/ a gorgeous set of finely checkered walnut stocks w/ gold medallions, as well as a blued magazine marked w/ the Rampant Colt as well as ‘COLT/.45 AUTO’ on the base.
Overall condition is as close to 'flawless' as you can possibly get, and we would consider the gun to be N.O.S. (New Old Stock). The package includes the original two-piece Colt Gold Cup National Match box w/ the original shipping sleeve which is numbered to the gun, as well as the original factory test target, Colt walnut presentation case w/ red velvet lining, and the Colt Archive letter.
This pistol exemplifies masterful craftsmanship w/ historical significance, and is a true collector's masterpiece destined to be the centerpiece of any high-end collection. Don’t miss the opportunity to own this legendary piece, an unparalleled example of Colt artistry and craftsmanship.
