1961 Colt Cobra .38 Spl. 4"Blue Factory Hammer Shroud RARE!
If you collect vintage Colt handguns, and you really love the hard to find pistols that don’t surface too often, then I have the perfect gun for you!
‘Dirty Harry’ is very happy to offer you this very early and quite rare 1951 Colt Cobra .38 Special revolver (Serial # 9171-LW), featuring a beautiful factory original dual-tone blue finish, the rare 4” barrel, rare factory hammer shroud, and perfect Coltwood stocks. This is a very cool pistol folks! You don’t often see the elusive 4” Colt Cobra revolvers, but you rarely ever see the 4” Colt Cobra w/ a factory hammer shroud. Overall condition is a strong 99% throughout. The factory original dual-tone blue finish is exceptional w/ both the shiny blue & matte blue finishes showing only the slightest signs of handling, and the factory original Coltwood stocks are simply perfect. All mechanical functions are perfect w/ tight lockup, accurate timing, and shiny barrel & cylinder bores. The package also includes an original Colt 4” Cobra box w/ the white ‘shroud’ sticker, and an original Colt Shooting Suggestions brochure. The box is numbered as 9192, which I have been told belonged to the other 4” Colt Cobra w/ hammer shroud that was in the two-gun shipment, so somewhere along the line the two boxes got swapped, probably at the original dealership. According to the Colt Archives letter, this 4” Colt Cobra # 9171 was shipped on December 14, 1951 (part of a two-gun shipment) and was delivered to Buhl Sons Company in Detroit, Michigan.
I have always sought out the oddball and highly unique Colt pistols that you simply don’t see every day, and this beautiful revolver certainly fits the bill. This is a collector-grade pistol that would be an excellent addition to any high-end Colt collection!
